STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—Penn State trustees have called off a vote on renaming a campus child care center that currently bears the name of a former school administrator awaiting trial on charges he lied to a grand jury about child sex abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky.

The board decided against the vote Friday after a handful of trustees questioned the timing of changing the name or voiced concern over whether it might unduly influence Gary Schultz's trial in January. Trustee Anthony Lubrano read a letter from Schultz's lawyer sent to board members asking for a delay until after the legal proceedings.

The Gary Schultz Child Care Center at Hort Woods was dedicated a year ago, about two months before Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley were charged for their response to the scandal.
