PITTSBURGH—Authorities in western Pennsylvania are investigating the death of a woman in a jail cell following an arrest on drug paraphernalia charges.

Allegheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs said 52-year-old Tammy Marie Cox of Washington was found dead at the county jail on Tuesday morning.

The medical examiner's office said Wednesday that the cause of death was still under review pending toxicology tests.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said a police report indicates that Cox was one of several people arrested after a traffic stop by Pittsburgh officers.
