MCVEYTOWN, Pa.—Authorities say a helicopter pilot was killed when his aircraft crashed in the field of a central Pennsylvania farm over the weekend.

The (Harrisburg) Patriot-News ( http://bit.ly/Ukznlt) says Mifflin County Coroner Daniel Lynch identified the victim as 61-year-old Kenneth Smith.

Lynch says the McVeytown resident was killed on impact when the engine of the two-seat helicopter shut off and the aircraft crashed Saturday morning.

State police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
