A jury convicted Stephen Fromholz, of San Antonio, Thursday of first-degree murder in the July 2011 killing of fellow restaurant patron Donald Holler.
Authorities say Fromholz and Holler argued over the volume of the television in the tavern before Fromholz went to his car, returned with a semi-automatic rifle and shot Holler in the back.
Two other patrons tackled Holler as authorities say he prepared to fire another shot.
Fromholz's attorney sought a lesser charge, arguing at trial that his client was too impaired by alcohol to form the intent to kill Holler.
