BEAVERDALE, Pa.—A western Pennsylvania man is charged with homicide after the toddler he was baby-sitting died in his care with injuries including a fractured skull and a herniated brain.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 25-year-old Patrick Lynn Burkett, who is being held without bail in the death of 22-month-old Reagan Panick.

Burkett's girlfriend found her daughter unresponsive at Burkett's Beaverdale home on Friday after leaving the girl in his care while she went to work. Panick was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Investigators say Burkett initially said he didn't know how Panick was injured, then told them several different accounts. Police say Burkett claimed Panick suffered various falls and was bumped into a table by a dog.
