PHILADELPHIA—A man convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a pregnant woman last year during a fight outside Philadelphia's traffic court building has been sentenced to two to four years in prison.

The Philadelphia Daily News ( http://bit.ly/OPNqP5) says Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Minehart imposed the maximum sentence Wednesday on 27-year-old Walter Williams in the February 2011 death of 21-year-old Tovoyia Owens, who was three months pregnant. Authorities said a long-simmering dispute between the two preceded the fight.

Assistant District Attorney Brendan O'Malley detailed the defendant's criminal record and said "nothing seems to be able to rehabilitate" him. Williams' sentence will begin after he finishes a 2 1/2-year term on an earlier probation violation.
