BANGOR, Pa.—Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say an injured hiker has been rescued from the Appalachian Trail.

The (Allentown) Morning Call ( http://bit.ly/PEbXSU) says rescuers climbed to the trail north of Bangor on Tuesday night to reach the victim.

Officials say she was gotten to safety, but her condition was not immediately available.

Officials said the hiker was reported injured at 7:25 p.m. near Twilight Trail in Upper Mount Bethel Township on the boundary of Northampton and Monroe counties.

A Northampton County emergency official said the hiker was brought down the trail just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
