PHILADELPHIA—Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein and her running mate have been released from custody after their arrests at a Philadelphia protest.

Stein and vice presidential candidate Cheri Honkala (HAHN'-kah-lah) are charged with defiant trespass and conspiracy for a sit-in at a bank.

They were among five people arrested at the demonstration Wednesday against housing foreclosures.

Attorney Lawrence Krasner says Stein and Honkala spent the night in jail and were released without bail Thursday afternoon. Honkala is a longtime Philadelphia activist.

Krasner says their first court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 4.
