The Erie Times-News ( http://bit.ly/QkccJP) says a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Crawford County ended with 20-year-old Ashley Barber and 18-year-old Jade Olmstead ordered to trial on charges of homicide, conspiracy and evidence tampering.
State police allege that the two invited 20-year-old Brandy Stevens of Beaver Township, Ohio, to their Cochranton-area home in May but savagely beat and choked her and rolled her into a shallow grave in the woods.
Trooper Eric Mallory alleged that when they saw that Stevens was still breathing in the grave, they poured water into her mouth and nose to try to drown her. Authorities said she eventually suffocated in the grave.
