PITTSBURGH—The FBI has paid more than $64,000 to repair damage to its own vehicles and surrounding property that were hit with bullet when an Indiana murder suspect fired at least 20 shots at agents who came to arrest him near Pittsburgh last year.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ( http://bit.ly/N2UGYO) reports Thursday those figures are contained in presentence documents filed by federal prosecutors against 31-year-old Frank Perez Jr..

He pleaded guilty in March to assault on a federal officer for the Oct. 4 shootout that occurred when agents surrounded his home in Verona.

Perez faces at least 10 years in federal prison when he's sentenced Aug. 7 and must then return to Indiana to face charges that he killed a man in Whiting, Ind. in 1999.

Perez is being held without bail until sentencing.
