Thirty-year-old Kimberly Taschler pleaded guilty Tuesday in Carbon County Court to involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children. Thirty-six-year-old Jacob Taschler pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of children. Other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Authorities alleged that the two strapped 11-month-old Kayla in a car seat at their Palmerton home for 16 hours and didn't give her food and water.
But defense attorney George Dydynsky said he has questions about the January 2010 death, saying the child's difficulties occurred in the last few days.
Jacob Taschler told WNEP-TV that he loves all of his children, but declined further comment, citing his attorney's advice.
