A family member confirmed Tuesday that Cameron Stambaugh of Spring Grove, an Army private first class and a military police officer, died in a bombing on Sunday.
The soldier's grandfather, Quentin Stambaugh, says his 20-year-old grandson enlisted in the Army after graduating from high school in 2010 and had been in Afghanistan for only about three months. He was wounded by shrapnel only three weeks after he arrived, but his grandfather says he had recovered and was back on duty.
NATO officials say six Americans were killed in a bombing in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday and a seventh American died that day in a separate attack in southern Afghanistan.
