PHILADELPHIA—A three alarm fire at a garage in southwest Philadelphia has spread to adjoining row houses, forcing the evacuation of neighborhood residents.

The fire in the 5200 block of Pentridge Street began just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. A fire department spokesman says at least two houses on either side of the burning building were evacuated as the fire began spreading. He did not know if the garage was occupied when the fire started.

KYW Radio reports that a 43-year-old woman suffered burns on her arms and has been taken to a hospital for treatment.

The American Red Cross is setting up a center at a nearby school for residents who've been displaced.
