SACKETS HARBOR, N.Y.—A former executive for a museum in the Thousands Islands region has taken over duties as head of the two-state National Scenic Byway known as the Great Lakes Seaway Trail.

The regional tourism and economic development organization says Michael Bristol began his duties Monday as president and chief executive officer of the Sackets Harbor-based group.

Bristol brings nearly 30 years' experience to his new job. His previous positions included leading the convention and visitors bureau in Tallahassee, Fla., and serving as director of marketing for The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton on the St. Lawrence River.

The Great Lakes Seaway Trail is a 518-mile-long coastal byway that follows the shorelines of Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. It stretches from the Ohio-Pennsylvania border to Massena in northern New York.
