GREENSBURG, Pa.—Jurors for the capital murder trial of one of the defendants charged in the torture killing of a mentally disabled woman in western Pennsylvania will be chosen from the same county after all.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ( http://bit.ly/KLFsFY) says Westmoreland County Judge Rita Hathaway on Tuesday reversed her previous order to choose jurors from another county for the trial of 26-year-old Ricky Smyrnes in the February 2010 death of Jennifer Daughtery.

Jury selection is slated to begin Oct. 15 in Greensburg.

Defense attorneys had argued that the August penalty phase deliberations in the case of 22-year-old defendant Melvin Knight might prejudice jurors.

The state Supreme Court last week ordered the jury picked in Beaver County, but prosecutors pointed out that the two counties are in the same media market.
