GREENSBURG, Pa.—A state police corporal has been suspended without pay from his barracks in western Pennsylvania and is the target of an unspecified, but ongoing, investigation.

State police spokeswoman Maria Finn says she can't comment on the investigation that has resulted in the suspension of Cpl. Robert Stauffer.

Stauffer told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review he can't comment on the allegations against him. The Associated Press could not immediately locate Stauffer for comment.

The newspaper ( http://bit.ly/Lwdz4j) reports the 52-year-old corporal has been a crime unit supervisor at the barracks about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. Among other things, he investigated white collar and violent crimes and longer-running investigations.
