Fifty-seven-year-old Randy Teets of Whitehall Township pleaded guilty Monday in Lehigh County Court to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Authorities said he had a blood alcohol content of 0.21 when his car veered out of its lane and hit an oncoming minivan on July 18 in North Whitehall Township, killing 1-year-old Katrina Gunkel.
Under terms of his plea agreement, Teets is to serve at least three years in prison and his maximum term could be as high as 22 1/2 years.
The defendant said nothing in court beyond brief answers to the judge's questions. Relatives of the victim declined comment after the hearing.
