FORTY FORT, Pa.—Officials in northeastern Pennsylvania say high winds from a summer storm flipped two planes at a small airport and damaged tents and other structures at a nearby fairground.

Luzerne County emergency dispatchers said the winds and heavy rain on Friday night also downed some tree branches and power lines.

Winds left two prop planes on their backs at the Wyoming Valley Airport

The storm also tossed several pop-up tents and rolled a band shell set up for the 125th anniversary celebration in Forty Fort.

Workers with S&S Amusements said the winds bent the frame of what had been an umbrella for a kiddie carousel on the field.

Despite the damage, an official said the Forty Fort celebration would continue as scheduled.
