PEACH BOTTOM, Pa.—Authorities say a 70-year-old man is dead after his riding mower slid into a pond in central Pennsylvania.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reports ( http://bit.ly/MBEX0q) the accident happened a little after 6 p.m. Friday in Fulton Township. Fire officials say the victim was mowing around a slight embankment when the tractor slid into the water and ended up on top of him; the victim's name was not released.

Fire officials say they removed the mower and recovered the man's body. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
