Jurors told Common Pleas Judge M. Teresa Sarmina Wednesday they've been unable to come to agreement on four charges, but it wasn't clear which ones.
Prosecutors say Monsignor William Lynn conspired to endanger children by taking part in an alleged cover-up. Lynn served as secretary for clergy at the Philadelphia archdiocese from 1992 to 2004. The Rev. James Brennan is charged with the attempted rape of a 14-year-old boy in 1996.
The jury has deliberated since June 1.
Seven men and five women are on the jury. They include a federal court clerk, a gospel singer and a graduate student.
