Prosecutors said York police officers were trying to break up a March 2011 drug deal, and Officer Michael Fissel was partially inside a suspect's vehicle when the he hit the gas, dragging the officer. Authorities say Fissel shot the suspect in the leg before he escaped. He was treated for head and other injuries
Twenty-three-year-old Ernest Bryant Matthews was arrested after arriving at York Hospital hours later. He apologized in court Monday, saying he was scared and hadn't meant to hurt the officer. Matthews was sentenced to 20 months to six years for aggravated assault and a concurrent 12 to 24 months for reckless endangering.
