ERIE, Pa.—A man has been jailed on charges he raped and beat another man found unconscious and half-naked by police on an Erie bridge.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 37-year-old Michael Williams Jr., who has been charged with rape, attempted homicide, aggravated assault and robbery.

Police say Williams knocked his victim unconscious about 6:15 a.m. Sunday and raped him along the city's Bayfront Connector, a highway along the shore of Lake Erie.

Police say the victim was found lying on the highway bridge with his pants and shoes off.

The alleged victim was reported to be in the intensive care unit at UPMC Hamot hospital on Monday with broken bones in his face and internal bleeding in his head.
