MORGAN, Pa.—An autopsy is set on the body of a man found dead after his car rear-ended a gasoline truck and caught fire on Interstate 79 in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The Allegheny County medical examiner says the dead motorist is 40-year-old Bradford Carter, of Eighty-Four.

State police say the crash happened about 11:15 p.m. Thursday in South Fayette Township, near the interstate's Bridgeville rest stop.

Police say Carter wasn't wearing a seatbelt and that the tractor trailer driver, who was not hurt, got out of his vehicle and used a fire extinguisher and water from his lunch pail to douse Carter's burning car. The tanker truck, carrying more than 8,000 gallons of gasoline, did not catch fire.

Police have not released the name of the truck driver, who troopers say was rear-ended by the speeding motorist.
