FAIRVIEW, Pa.—State police say they're searching for a man who threatened to kill his estranged wife and children in northwestern Pennsylvania, and say it's possible he may be headed to his native Puerto Rico.

Police say 33-year-old Angel Ruiz (ahn-HEL' ROO'-eez) fought with the woman in Fairview and held a butcher knife to her neck and told her he'd make her watch him kill their children before killing her. Troopers say Ruiz then forced his family into a car, but she was able to get away and call 911 after persuading him to stop for gas at a convenience store on Thursday.

Police say Ruiz left before police could arrive.

The Erie Times-News ( http://bit.ly/LpJPEc) reports the woman and children have been moved to a safe location and have not been physically injured.
