WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—A northeastern Pennsylvania woman has been sentenced to 14 to 28 years in prison in the shooting death of her boyfriend last year.

Forty-nine-year-old Kathleen Jordan earlier pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the March 2011 death of 45-year-old Milo Reilly.

Authorities in Luzerne County said Jordan killed the victim inside their home in Pringle after an argument about household bills.

Defense attorney Demetrius Fannick said the couple's 18-month relationship was marked by heavy drinking and abusive behavior.

The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens' Voice says he sought leniency for his client, arguing among other things that at the time of his death, Reilly was facing charges of having assaulted her.

But prosecutors said Jordan had shown no remorse and the shotgun involved could not possibly have been fired accidentally.
