The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ( http://bit.ly/LvlCwv) reports that Allegheny County Judge Jill Rangos imposed the long sentence on Monday after finding 44-year-old John Major, of O'Hara Township, had "no remorse." Major read a long statement in court acknowledging some wrongs but denying any violence toward his family.
Major was sentenced for sexual assault charges and others relating to the standoff that occurred when county child welfare officials went to remove his son from the home in March 2011, after learning of the girl's abuse allegations.
Police say Major referred to his son as "leverage" before ending the armed standoff during which he threatened suicide.
