BEAVER, Pa.—A mistrial has been declared in the trial of a western Pennsylvania man accused of having killed a man during a gun battle between a car and a sport utility vehicle three days after Christmas in 2010.

Twenty-year-old Dejuan Hill of Aliquippa is charged in Beaver County Court with homicide and conspiracy in the slaying of 18-year-old Robert Hall Jr. Authorities allege that he was one of two people who fired into the vehicle in which Hall was a passenger.

Defense attorney Stephen Colafella told the Beaver County Times ( http://bit.ly/LHkxOO) that a prosecution witness accidentally referred Thursday to a previous criminal conviction against his client. After he objected, Judge John Dohanich declared a mistrial. Colafella said prosecutors will have 120 days to retry the case.
