LANSDALE, Pa.—The Reporter newspaper in the Philadelphia suburb of Lansdale has named Ann Cornell as its new editor in chief.

Cornell is taking over for Nona Breaux, who retired at the end of last year. Cornell had previously been editor of the Perkiomen Valley bureau of the online newspaper Patch. She had also worked as news editor of The Times Herald in Norristown.

The Reporter reports ( http://bit.ly/KdquF8) Cornell is a graduate of Temple University. She says the newspaper will remain committed to telling stories through Facebook and Twitter, but that the actual newspaper is "not going anywhere for at least the next couple of decades."

She says she wants to engage with readers and that the trust that the community has in the paper is essential.
