MILTON, Pa.—Neighbors say there's no crossing gate at the intersection where a Pennsylvania teen was killed when the car she was riding in was struck by a train.

The Northumberland County coroner's office says 17-year-old Maxine Eschbach died Monday when the car being driven by another teen was struck by a freight train Monday afternoon in Milton, about 50 miles north of Harrisburg. Officials say the vehicle was dragged about a fifth of a mile.

Authorities say the car's 16-year-old driver was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Police are still trying to determine what caused the crash. But residents who live near the crossing tell WNEP-TV it's not unusual for motorists and pedestrians to disregard the crossing lights.
