ROCHESTER, N.Y.—A health services business plans to double its Rochester-area work force to more than 300 employees this month.

Officials with Maximus Inc. say Monday the addition of 165 jobs is at the company's new operations in suburban Pittsford. The company already employs about 160 at offices in nearby Victor and Perinton. Those jobs will be consolidated at the Pittsford office. The company is also adding 65 new jobs in the Scranton, Pa., area.

Reston, Va.-based Maximus plans to open its Pittsford office around May 15. The office will handle Medicare appeals processing.

The company says it plans to add a total of about 300 jobs in Pittsford within five years.

The Rochester-area expansion is being made with the help of more than $2.2 million in state and local tax breaks.

Maximus provides services for government health programs.
