The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Thursday that the winning ticket the multi-state lottery was sold at a newsstand at a downtown mall. A spokeswoman for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority says a pool of workers at the agency's headquarters purchased the winning ticket.
SEPTA spokeswoman Kristin Geiger says she's not among the winners and doesn't know how many tickets the group bought. She says the agency is excited for the lucky winners. The regularly cash-strapped transit agency runs buses, trains and trolleys in the city and its surrounding suburbs.
Lottery officials say they can't confirm a winner until the prize is claimed. Powerball tickets are sold in 42 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
