The Meadows Racetrack & Casino unveiled the new, 1,400-space parking garage in a ceremony Friday at the facility in Washington County. Officials said they expect to break ground later this year on a 200-room hotel and spa, and there are also plans for a special-events center and other improvements.
"We want to make this the No. 1 entertainment destination in Western Pennsylvania," Bill Paulos, a principal in Las Vegas-based Cannery Casino Resorts, the parent company of the Meadows, said at a news conference, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Paulos said that, all told, Cannery has now invested more than $600 million in the casino project. Other new initiatives announced include a 25,000-square-foot events center and plans for a retail lifestyle center that will feature the hotel/spa.
Pennsylvania has 11 casinos, with the most recent one having opened March 31 in the Philadelphia suburb of Valley Forge.
