STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—A man accused of crashing into the gates of Penn State's football stadium and stealing the "Paternoville" sign is facing trial on burglary, theft and other charges.

Twenty-two-year-old Charles Ciraolo waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges stemming from the Feb. 28 incident outside Beaver Stadium.

Police say surveillance video shows Ciraolo trying to drive through the gates and knocking over two signs, including the one in the area where students camp out for prime tickets that was named "Paternoville" in honor of longtime coach Joe Paterno.

The Centre Daily Times ( http://bit.ly/HKL80g) reports police tracked Ciraolo to his home in Fairport, N.Y. and recovered the sign.

Penn State police estimate the damage to the gates at $23,000.

A phone message left for Ciraolo's attorney Thursday morning was not immediately returned.
