Saturday, April 12, was Keep York Beautiful's annual City Wide Clean Up. The weather was perfect, and it provided a great day to spruce up our city after months of snow, cinders and salt.

Over 150 residents and volunteers were out in full force and took to the streets with aqua-colored trash bags to pick up litter and trash. To their credit, 1,180 pounds of litter were collected in just three hours.

A big thank you goes out to the Keep York Beautiful board, which works year round to promote activities that beautify our city, and especially to all the volunteers and residents who gave up several hours of their Saturday morning to help the city look its best.

I would like to give a special mention to the following groups that participated; Olde Towne East Neighborhood Association (NA), Salem Square NA, Bell Socialization, UpTown York, Fulton Bank, Oasis House, Downtown Inc., Newton Square NA, Devers Area NA and CS Davidson, along with countless other city residents.

Thank you everyone. Working together we can and will make a difference.
