A low-cost series of six classes for people and their families with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes will begin Thursday at Penn State Extension, 112 Pleasant Acres Road.
Participants can learn healthy food preparation ideas, watch food demonstrations and sample the recipes, learn easy ways to get physically active and enjoy class nutrition lessons and discussion. They receive a cookbook, pedometer, healthy foods foam mat visual, physical activity DVDs and prizes.
Classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 7 through Dec. 12. The follow-up class will be held Feb. 6.
The cost is $40 per person or $55 per family. Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries receive free registration.
