A wanted man was arrested at an East Hopewell Township home Sunday, but not until after he fled from local and state police.
Southern Regional Police received a tip that 22-year-old Zachary Dean Thomas, who was wanted for a parole violation, was at his parents' home on High Street in Stewartstown about 11 a.m. on Sunday, according to a police news release.
But Thomas had already fled when officers arrived, police said, adding officers and state police troopers searched the area to no avail.
A few hours later at 2 p.m., authorities found Thomas hiding in a bathroom at a friend's home on Woods Road in East Hopewell Township, police said.
Thomas allegedly left a drug rehabilitation facility without permission a few days before his recent arrest, said Sgt. Darryl Smuck, adding a court ordered Thomas to the facility as part of a burglary conviction in 2011.
For the recent incident, Thomas is charged with flight to avoid apprehension and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents, which do not list an attorney for him.
He remains in York County Prison on $25,000 bail and a probation violation detainer, a prison spokesman said.
