For Marguerite Turner, great weather and a lot of people will equal a huge splash of success on Memorial Day weekend.

"If it's really hot, we get a lot of people, and hopefully by Memorial Day, it will be nice," said Turner, owner of Pine Ridge Swim and Tennis Club in Springettsbury Township.

The club, at 2454 Pleasant View Drive, opens at 11 a.m. Saturday. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, giving members plenty of time to enjoy the club's big and baby water slides, and high and low diving boards, Turner said.

"We'll get a lot of families, especially on Memorial Day," Turner said. "They come and like to relax at the pool with the kids."

Excitement is the word Kelly Templeton uses to describe the atmosphere during opening day at Wisehaven Swimming Pool at 2989 East Prospect Road in Windsor Township.

"Usually people are really excited to come here," said Templeton, the pool's general manager. "Everybody is anxious from the winter, anxious to come to the pool. Hopefully, the weather will be great. It gets crowds to the pool."

Both Templeton and Turner said their pools will offer weekly moonlight programs in mid-June when members can swim late.

Already open: Gifford Pinchot State Park opened its lake area for swimming on May 11, so people could get an early jump on the swim season, said Bob Deffner, park manager.

"For Memorial Day, if the weather is nice, we'll have a busy crowd," he said. "They'll be here to picnic and swim and to hike. They like to exercise. We get a good mix of families and younger people."

The park also has a sandbox and playground for children, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, disc golf courses, and boat rentals and a food concession stand.

Monday also is fish free day at the park, where adults will be allowed to fish without a license. They also can borrow the park's fishing equipment, Deffner said.

"We're expecting a busy day," Deffner said. "There's something for everybody."

Forecast: Yorkers have a good chance of being able to bask in outdoor activities.

Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 65, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with a high near 68, and Memorial Day should be sunny, with a high near 72.
