Springettsbury Township voters have an important choice -- who they should elect for the board of supervisors.
A vote for Mark Swomley is a vote for more of the same good old boy, back-room rubber stamping of approvals. I met Swomley. He seems a nice man, but he is a politician. I am not looking for politicians.
Last year he ran for Todd Platt's vacant position, which tells me he wants to continue moving up the political ladder. I believe we have enough politicians already in all levels of government.
Swomley is currently on the township planning commission, to which he was appointed in 2003. I attended some of the planning meetings, and I see the attitude of whatever the engineer recommends, they approve with little questioning. Where is the due diligence? It takes more time, but if you want the job, then perform the responsibilities.
I was not happy with his "yes" vote to revise the RV ordinance that affected many residents. We pay our taxes and take care of our properties. We have the right to be happy. This is America. We are allowed freedoms, aren't we?
