Police seized more than $20,000 cash, a large amount of heroin and other items during a Thursday-morning drug raid at a Penn Township home, according to charging documents.

About 7:20 a.m., township police, state police and members of the York County Drug Task Force raided 837 W. Alvin St., according to Penn Township Police Chief Jim Laughlin.

They seized $20,498 cash; one large bag and 167 small baggies of heroin with an estimated street value of $11,700; electronic scales; drug packaging materials and a .380 handgun, documents state.

Rude awakening: Police arrested the home's resident, Desmon Donte Anderson, who was in a bedroom sleeping when police raided Anderson's home, according to his arrest affidavit.

He later admitted the seized items belonged to him, the affidavit alleges.

Anderson, 24, remains in York County Prison on $100,000 bail, charged with heroin possession with intent to deliver.

"We're proud of the work done by our officers and the cooperation with the Drug Task Force and state police," Laughlin said. "This gentleman was a large supplier to the Hanover area and his arrest will temporarily disrupt the heroin supply in our area."
