Children ages 5 to 12 can have fun in a competitive environment while learning to control their asthma at the York Asthma Olympics from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Central York High School gymnasium, 601 Mundis Mills Road.

Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. The Asthma Olympics are sponsored by the American Lung Association in Pennsylvania.

Throughout the program, children will compete in six events: the shuttle run, soccer ball dribble, obstacle course, 50-yard dash, football throw and long jump. Players also rotate through two educational stations about asthma management.

The Asthma Olympics have a $5 registration fee per child. Events are supervised by staff and volunteers, including trained medical personnel. A parent education session is offered during the York Asthma Olympics. Advance registration is required.
