The Southern York County School Board recently approved the district's 2013-14 school year calendar. Highlights include:

-- Aug. 22, 2013: The first day of school for students in grades K through 9; freshmen will take part in the ninth-grade transition program, called Link Crew. School will begin the following day for grades 10-12.

-- Nov. 26-29, 2013: School will be closed for teacher in-service days and Thanksgiving vacation.

-- Dec. 23, 2013-Jan. 1, 2014: School will be closed for the winter holiday.

-- June 4, 2014: The last day of school for students.

The commencement date will be determined at the April 2014 school board meeting.
