The winds of fortune are nothing if not fickle -- just ask a man who accidentally dropped a large amount of cash in Windsor Township on a windy day.
It happened to a local man as he was getting out of his vehicle in Windsor Commons Shopping Center on Jan. 31, according to York Area Regional Police.
The man had withdrawn several thousand dollars to pay bills with, and dropped all the cash while climbing out of his car, which was in the Giant parking lot, according to Regional Sgt. Jeff Dunbar.
"It was a pretty windy day," he said.
The wind spread the bills around the parking lot.
"People were stopping their cars, jumping out, grabbing money and leaving," Dunbar said.
So far, not quite half of the lost cash has been recovered, he said, and officers are hoping to find and return much more of it.
If you know anyone in possession of the man's money, or you have some of it, you're asked to call Officer Paul Steinfelt at 741-1259.
