Drivers trying to avoid police scrutiny probably shouldn't veer into the path of an oncoming cop cruiser.
But Carroll Township Police said that's exactly what Timothy Patrick McAleer did early Friday morning.
Now the 22-year-old, of Autumn Drive in Monaghan Township, is facing a charge of driving under the influence, police said.
McAleer was driving on Autumn Drive about 2:20 a.m. Friday. His vehicle was partially over the center line, despite there being an oncoming Carroll Township cruiser, police said.
McAleer pulled back into his own lane and stopped before hitting the cruiser -- but only after the officer turned on his overhead lights and honked the car's horn to get McAleer's attention, police said.
The officer then turned his attention to McAleer and arrested him for alleged DUI, police said.
