Cancer survivors have been on personal journeys, and the Relay for Life of York Cancer Survivors Banquet is an evening dedicated to honoring those individuals and their stories.
The American Cancer Society is hosting the banquet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the York County School of Technology, 2179 South Queen St.
Cancer survivors are invited to bring one guest for a complimentary meal courtesy of the Red Lion American Legion.
Pre-registration is required and should be completed by Tuesday, Feb. 12, by calling 717-846-2561 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
"Every survivor is invited, whether they were diagnosed yesterday or 50 years ago," said Sheila Denny, volunteer event chairwoman.
The banquet is a kickoff for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, another annual event to celebrate the lives of those who have survived cancer.
Relay coming up: Relay for Life participants walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society that will go toward finding a cure and helping cancer patients and their families.
"At relay, and at the survivors banquet, everyone understands the challenges that cancer survivors have overcome, and there is peace of mind knowing that together we can face the challenges ahead," said Denny.
