The American Cancer Society of Southern York County is looking for volunteers for the Relay for Life of Southern York. The society is hosting a volunteer meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the library at Shrewsbury Elementary School.

Relay for Life is an overnight event that mobilizes communities to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer.

Volunteers are needed to organize and recruit teams, seek community support, coordinate logistics, find refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment and lend their support in other ways.

To reserve a seat for the informational meeting, volunteer on the Relay for Life committee or serve as a team captain, call Katie Cooper at (717) 846-2561.

For more information on cancer, call the American Cancer Society's 24-hour help line at (800) 227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
