Police on Tuesday filed charges against a Dover Township man who allegedly had a tantrum inside a McDonald's because the hamburger he ordered mistakenly had cheese on it.

Springettsbury Township Police said Sean Varone's conniption fit culminated in him assaulting a McDonald's worker in the parking lot of the restaurant at 380 Memory Lane about 11 a.m. Nov. 30.

Varone, 35, of Oak Lane, is being charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. A date for his informal arraignment and preliminary hearing have not yet been set, according to court documents.

According to police, he knocked over a trash can, threw a highchair and left the restaurant, angered by the misplaced cheese.

An employee followed Varone outside to get his license plate number, at which point he attacked her as she tried to call 911, police said.

Varone physically restrained her by wrapping his arms around her, then grabbed her cellphone from her hand, according to police. He threw the phone across the parking lot, then fled in his vehicle, police said.

The employee suffered minor injuries, police said.
