The Salvation Army and local Wal-Mart stores will hold "Fill the Truck" toy drive to provide new toys and coats to area children in need this Christmas.

The drive begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart stores in York, Hanover and Shrewsbury. The drive will be held for one day.

As shoppers enter the store, they will receive a list of suggested gifts to help fill the Salvation Army's truck or collection bin. Donated toys will be distributed to children during the Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer Distribution on December 18 and 19.

The Salvation Army continues its Red Kettle Campaign that concludes Monday, Dec. 24. All donations made to the kettle campaign and "Fill the Truck" events will remain in the local community and will help the Salvation Army provide food, clothing, shelter, financial assistance and other services to more than 5,000 families in York County.
