York Suburban is hosting an informational event for anyone in the area considering running for school board.
The "What You Need to Know About Serving on a School Board" panel on Thursday, Dec. 6, is open to the public.
Some of the topics include how to file and circulate nominating petitions, how much time is involved in serving on a school board, board/superintendent relationships and how to be a good board member.
The program is at 7 p.m. at York Suburban Middle School.
York Suburban board member Jennifer Clancy, Central York board president Eric Wolfgang, Lincoln Intermediate Unit director Michael Thew, York Suburban superintendent Kate Orban and Pennsylvania School Boards Association representative Pamela Price are among the panel members.
School board members serve four-year, unpaid terms. At York Suburban, four school board seats are available in the 2013 election, those now held by Lynne Leopold-Sharp, John DeHaas, Emily Bates and Cathy Shaffer.
