Prepare your taste buds, foodies.

PA Gourmet, now in its second year, is more than a food and wine show. It's a full foodie experience.

Kicking off Friday evening with the new Premiere Night, food and wine lovers from all over are expected to flock to the Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave., York, for samplings and demonstrations. The event's presenting sponsor, Giant, has returned for the second year.

"It's definitely a social experience," said Rick Moran, the market development specialist for JM Expo, the organizers of the event.

Last year was PA Gourmet's inaugural event, and Moran said the response was great. With more than 80 regional vendors expected to attend this year, he said there is definitely something for everyone at the show.

This year's event will also include a visit from celebrity chef, Pippa Calland, originally from Mechanicsburg, who was a contestant on the Food Network's "Chopped" and BBC America's "Chef Race: UK vs. US."

Calland will be a judge for Friday night's new Chopped PA competition, designed after the show of the same name. The competition will feature area chefs who belong to the American Culinary Federation who will battle it out live on stage.

On Saturday, Calland will do a live cooking demonstration on the event's main stage. Moran said having a celebrity chef attend this year's show is definitely going to be a draw for attendees.

"We're really lucky to have her," he said.

Saturday's event, which Moran said is a more casual event than Friday night, will be a day full of wine and beer tastings, demonstrations, food samplings and a guides to food pairing.

Moran said the stage area will be a central focus of the event with even more demonstrations and other entertainment, as it was such a big draw for attendees last year.

"We really beefed up the content this year," he said.

On Saturday, attendees will also get to watch amateur chefs battle it out in the second annual "So You Think You Can Cook?" competition. The contestants submitted a profile and were then featured in a Facebook contest where people could vote. The three chefs with the most votes will go head-to-head for a prize package and bragging rights. Moran said the competition is very popular because those in the audience can relate to the competitors.

"It's really interesting to see what someone with only home cooking experience can do," he said. "It's really impressive."

Even though the event received many accolades last year and is likely to be even more successful this year, Moran believes the event will only grow in the years to come.

"It's still in its infancy," he said. "It's just going to get bigger and better from here."

Tickets for Friday night's show, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m., are $45 and include a custom wine glass and a goodie bag. Tickets for Satur´day's show are $10 in advance, through Friday, or $12 at the door. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets for Friday night's event also include admission for Saturday.
