A York City man was arrested after running from police who had pulled him over for a traffic stop on Friday in Springettsbury Township, police said.

A township officer pulled over John P. Kane III, 27, of West Princess Street, shortly before 2 a.m. Friday at the intersection of East Market Street and Yorklyn Gate for allegedly driving erratically, police said.

As the officer started walking to Kane's vehicle, Kane drove off, then struck a utility pole on East Market Street, Springettsbury Township Police said. He then ran away on foot, but was captured a short time later at a home in Hallam, police said.

He remains free on bail, charged with drunken driving and fleeing or attempting to elude police.
